Stovetop Simmer Scent: Orange, Rosemary + Cinnamon

As soon as the weather cools, I am making simmer scents on the stovetop. I love them! They feel cozy, are so easy, and it’s a natural way to scent your home!

This latest version came about because I was out of apples for my apple simmer scent, and instead had oranges, It gives a fresh touch to the smell and still feels warm and comforting. I have been doing this on repeat! I will even simmer the same pot for a few days before tossing, I just add water and simmer again!

If you’ve never made a stovetop simmer scent before, I love having a fruit, an herb and a spice. In the fall, my favorite herb and spices are cinnamon sticks and fresh rosemary. And then for fruit I will do oranges or apples.

I hope you enjoy this cozy scent! If you do this, tag me at @urban.apron so we can connect! I love to connect with my readers!

ORange, Cinnamon + Rosemary Simmer Scent

  • 1  orange, sliced into rounds (no need to peel, slice it whole!)

  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary

  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks

  • Water

How to make it:

  1. Fill a small pot with water, about halfway full.

  2. Add your sliced oranges, rosemary and cinnamon sticks to the pot.

  3. Bring it to a gentle simmer on the stove. (not a roaring boil, just a light bubble). I then reduce to low once it’s at a light bubble and then just let it simmer.

  4. Let the simmer go as long as you’d like. Add water as needed when it gets low.

  5. If you don’t want to use the stove, you can also put this on an elective warmer or in a crockpot.
