My Favorite Beautycounter Products

Over a decade ago, when I started this blog, I would never have imagined doing a post about my favorite “clean beauty” products. I had never even heard that term or truly understood what it meant. I was always health conscious and put healthy eating and exercise a top priority in my life, but I just didn’t know I also had to pay attention to the products I put on my body.

Over the recent years, I’ve been learning more and more about the dangerously outdated beauty industry and the importance of wearing products that don’t have harmful ingredients in them. It is what first led me to Beautycounter - a company committed to making safe products and also updating the outdated laws governing the entire beauty industry. I’ve chatted a bit about why I love Beautycounter in a blog post, here. I love how transparent and thoughtful the brand is. And doing things no other company doing - like heavy metal testing, banning 2,800+ harmful ingredients and also actively advocating at the local and federal level for better laws (the lawyer in me really loves this part about the brand and wrote about it here!). You can read more in depth about Beautycounter’s safety standards, here. I really trust this brand and over the years, I’ve switched most of my skin care and makeup to these products and I love helping other women make safe swaps in their routines. I found it very overwhelming and confusing when I would go to the store- and love how Beautycounter does all the work for us, so we don’t have to second guess or question everything. And the good thing is that all the small swaps in our routine add up.

Now, I’m far from a pro when it comes to makeup and skin care. But, here’s the thing I think many can relate to. I wash my hair and I wash my face. I apply deodorant and lotion daily. I apply makeup most days (at least concealer and blush!). With three little kids, I may only have a few minutes each day to wash my face and do my routine. But, I’ve made it a priority to do it. It’s been a part of my self-care that I can do to take care of myself.

Here are my favorite Beautycounter products - the ones I personally use the most and recommend! You can save 20% off if you are new with code CLEANFORALL20.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS FOR YOUR BODY

When looking to switch to safe products, deodorant and body lotion are two top picks. I am passionate about this because when I first looked at the ingredients in the products that I wore most of my 20’s and when I was first pregnant, there was 3 parabens in the name-brand unscented body lotion I bought from target. That went right in the trash, and I was left feeling super frustrated.

Since we apply body lotion to most of our skin (our largest organ) every single day, it’s an important swap. Along with deodorant - because we put it in our underarms daily and mainstream deodorants have aluminum and hormone disrupting chemicals.

Basically, a clean beauty routine also means the entire body!!!

Clean Beauty staples include body products

Here are my favorite Beautycounter products when it comes to body…

Favorite products for SKIN CARE

My friend once said, “we only have one face, why wouldn’t we take care of it.” That really has stuck with me. I think about that as I have finally found a routine. I used to just apply a lotion and that’s it. No wonder I was never truly happy in my own skin.

My top rec for any person and any skin type is to add a vitamin c serum into your routine. It has so many benefits, including reducing dark spots, evening skin tone and increasing brightness. And Beautycounter’s All Bright C Serum uses a total of 10% vitamin C, from two forms of ultra-stable Vitamin C. And has turmeric, which I love and it’s so good for our skin!

My favorite clean beauty staples includes the Countertime line and Vitamin C Serum

When starting with a skin care routine, I always recommend starting with a skin care regimen. Which is a 4-step process of a cleanser, toner, treatment step and protect step. I personally love anything in the Countertime regimen because it is safe anti-aging and leaves my skin feeling the best ever! It’s a splurge for me, but the big glass bottles last a long time. I actually look forward to my day and night routine.

I pair the Countertime regimen with the All Bright Vitamin C Serum that I mentioned above and the Mighty Plump Water Cream and it’s a dream. My skin always feels the best when I do this routine.

Favorite MAKEUP Products

And now for beauty! I don’t find myself wearing a lot of makeup most days, but I do apply a few products daily. I love a good, natural look. And enough to just make you feel alive and confident. I really quickly fell in love with Beautycounter. Not only for the performance, but for their boldness in doing things no other makeup brand was doing.

I had no idea how dirty the cosmetic industry is. It is a $90 billion-dollar industry with basically very, very little regulation. (No company has to test, screen or limit heavy metals so there are heavy metals - i.e. the carcinogen lead - in our lipsticks and makeup products, especially mineral based and talc-free ones. A woman consumes over 3 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime and over 60% of brands have high levels of lead. Mica, a common ingredient used in all makeup, has a dirty little secret. It is being sourced by forced child labor, with 4 year old's down in mines in India sourcing it.)..

Beautycounter is countering the beauty industry and setting the standard when there wasn't one - for safe, responsibly sourced and sustainable products. They test and screen for heavy metals in its cosmetics every step of the process. This is something no other company is doing. Beautycounter uses Mica that is sourced with no child labor (Beautycounter personally visits the mica mines!) and Beautycounter is actually working right now to bring to light the issue and end this horrible practice in the industry. And they ban 2,800+ questionable and harmful ingredients so you can bet parabens, PEG's, lead and formaldehyde will not be lurking in the makeup.

Phew! Just a few reasons I love and trust this brand. And it’s won over 60 beauty awards, so you can bet it’s really good, too.

First - if you want to clean up your entire beauty routine, I would start with the Flawless in 5 because it is 6 key makeup products bundled at 20% off. That is what I did! Then I added things in over time from there!
