Why Beautycounter.

If you’re like I was, when you hear “safe skin care” you kind of listen (but not really), and turn your attention away & go about your day. I know I did. I had this thought it was just some kind of special, fancy, expensive makeup that I knew nothing about.

But then when it came to the food I ate, I always cared so much about being all-natural & organic; buying fruits & vegetables; seeking out very clean ingredients; making everything homemade; avoiding processed foods. But ON my body? My largest organ... I didn’t really pay attention.

Well, I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

I didn’t know that right now companies are able to sell skin care products with chemicals that have known harmful side effects and they do not have to test those ingredients for human safety. The US hasn't passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938...80 YEARS AGO! Right now 1,400 harmful chemicals are banned in the EU. But the U.S.? Only 30 are banned. 30. Out of the 1,500 harmful chemicals that make their way into the products that we use every day, only 30 are banned. How is this happening?!?!

That's how Beautycounter came into play. It became my one-stop shop because I knew everything had safer ingredients. Every step of the production was highly screened. No harmful ingredients, no heavy metals. The company is fighting all the way to Washington DC to make safer beauty a reality for all. It takes time, but each of us can help. If we don't start to care, talk about it & DO something about it; we will see no change. We all deserve better, cleaner beauty.

Tint Foundation in Linen or Dew Foundation in No. 2 - I like the Tint for work when I need more coverage. The Dew is a tinted moisturizer and great for when I'm around the house or weekends running errands. AND it has spf!
Mattifying Powder - after I put on foundation, I dust my face with this. I'm a bit oily, so it reduces it. Definitely recommend! I use a powder brush to apply.
Satin Powder Blush in Nectar - I swipe this over my cheeks. This angled brush is nice to use.
Nourishing Cream Cleanser - Because we all need a good, clean face wash.
Body Lotion in Citrus Mimosa - I love the fresh citrus scent of this lotion. I put this on my entire body after a shower. There is also the Countermatch body lotion, which has a convenient pump and has a hint of plum from plum oil.
Cleansing Balm - This can be a makeup remover OR an overnight face mask. I love wearing it to bed overnight, my skin feels so soft in the morning. If you're wanting to splurge on an item, this is a good one to do that.
Overnight Resurfacing Peel - Have dullness and just need a brighter, more youthful-looking complexion? This is it. I love it! I don't use this daily, but a few times a week. It's seriously the best. And well priced for what it is. If you are to just buy one Beautycounter product... buy. this. one.
