A Simple Guide to Everyday Living

What Urban.Apron is all about

Growing up, my parents never put much emphasis on stuff.

They both came from humble beginnings and worked hard to give my siblings and me a great childhood. Looking back, I don't remember the things we owned nearly as much as I remember how our home felt. It had a smell, a warmth, and felt like a big hug every time I walked through the door. It had homemade cookies on the counter, family dinners at 7 pm, and parents who were there to help us with homework and cheer us on in our activities. The feeling it gave me was what made it feel like home.

As I've gotten older, I've realized just how much this has shaped me.

Over the years, I've built a legal career, lived in a bigger city, and met people from all different walks of life. I've seen how easy it is to believe that happiness is found in the next promotion, the bigger house, the new car, the perfectly decorated room…or whatever comes next. I’ll admit I’ve gotten wrapped up in this belief myself, as I’ve always worked hard and strived for the next goal.

But the older I get, the more convinced I become that the things we remember most aren't the things we own.

They're the people who make us feel seen. Who make us feel loved.

They're the ordinary moments around the dinner table.

The smell of cookies baking in the oven.

Fresh flowers on the counter.

A cup of coffee before everyone wakes up.

An evening walk with your kids.

The more life I experience, the more I find myself coming back to the values I grew up with. That a loving home has very little to do with the things inside it and everything to do with how it feels. Through life’s up and downs, I’m reminded of this more and more.

I think that's why Urban.Apron has become about more than recipes over the years. It's become a place to celebrate the everyday (and very imperfect!) moments that become the memories we carry with us forever.

All of these thoughts have been on my mind so much lately! So much so that I finally sat down and finished something I've wanted to share for a long time…

The Urban.Apron Home Guide.

This guide is most definitely not about having the perfect home.

It's a collection of the recipes I come back to, the traditions our family loves, little moments that bring joy to ordinary days… and a few life lessons I'm learning along the way.

I hope it reminds you that you don't need a perfect home to create a meaningful one!

I hope Urban.Apron feels like a place where you can slow down for even just a moment. A place reminding you that a beautiful life isn't measured by what you own or what you do - but by the people you love, the traditions you create, and the memories you make along the way.

Thanks for being here!
