let’s talk Glasses today.

I have worn glasses since I was in second grade. I vividly remember the large red wire frames I first got. They snapped in half when I was playing outside one day and I had to hold them together with tape. The same day I had to speak at church for all school mass. Oh, the memories LOL.

I come from a family with sub-par eyesight, so glasses are part of my DNA. They have been in my life for over 3 decades, so I’ve had lots of experience with them.

And as I was getting ready to write this post, I was thinking back to my first Warby Parker experience.

Why I wear Warby Parker

Over a decade ago, my older sister used to live in New York, and so did my now husband Chad. When I used to visit, we would go to the Warby Parker store and try on glasses. I think that was when I first started wearing them. I loved the look of these glasses. And the price point. They felt hip, on trend and just different. Ya know? Like - not your average glasses store type glasses. I loved the thick frames. I loved how they felt. I loved how cool the store was. I loved that they give a pair to someone in need with every pair sold. I just loved it all. And at one time, I think I had three different Warby frames.

Then, St. Louis got a Warby Parker in the Central West End by where I lived. So naturally I was PUMPED. Now, you can try on pairs for free and they will mail them to you and then you just mail them back, which I have done, but I also love being able to pop into the store!

Okay so anyways long story short… we had 3 kids in 3 years and suddenly getting a new pair of glasses fell to the wayside as I was knee deep in diapers and getting new clothes every few months since my kids were growing out of everything so fast. What I needed for myself - like new glasses - wasn’t a top priority. Until several years went by and the pair I was wearing were not the right prescription anymore, so I found that I didn’t really wear them outside of the house. And I was officially ready for a new pair!

Why it’s about more than just glasses for me

When I recently got a new pair of glasses, I knew I wanted to stick with Warbys. Because not only do I still love the brand and price point… it’s also a bit nostalgic for me.

I’ve been wearing Warbys since I was in law school and trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. Then, Chad and I used to travel around NYC and now St. Louis, visiting farmers markets, breweries, coffee shops…and were just figuring things out as we went. My glasses became part of my memories and part of who I was during that season of life.

So I know I wanted a new Warby…

But what style?

Why I love the Winston Style Frame

When deciding the style, it’s always so hard to narrow down, but ultimately I went with the Winston.

I tried them on and loved the thick sturdy frame. I had also been eyeing this style for several years. Chad used to wear the Winston for a bit. I love the black one but then tried on the dark oak tortoise one and fell in love with that one even more.

So here we are today… I got a new pair and can now wear my Warby’s out and about again and that feels really good.

Plus, once you know what style you want, you can easily order online - you just upload your prescription when you order!! It was so easy. I think you can also get a prescription in their stores - I have never done that I just upload one from my eye doctor. But that’s super convenient if you need to do that.

So basically - I don’t stray from this brand. It’s a good one and once you find a good one you know what I mean when you say you become loyal.

Because glasses are more than just something that helps you see. They become part of your identity. Part of your everyday life. Your style. Your memories.

When I look back at different seasons of my life, I can honestly remember the glasses I wore during them. And maybe that sounds dramatic… but fellow glasses people get it.

If you get a pair of Warbys I would love to see them! Let’s connect on IG!
