M&M's

My Experiment: I make chocolate chip and M&M cookies. Then I place them in two separate containers for my friends or family.  Which one goes the fastest? The M&M cookies disappear.

Maybe it’s the colorful candies that stud the cookie.  Or maybe it’s the soft center….Or maybe it’s just that this cookie recipe is REALLY REALLY good.

This M&M cookie recipe is my favorite!  It’s my mom’s recipe and she has been making these cookies for years.  She said it came from a church parish cookbook.  This cookie recipe has lasted longer than the cookbook, which she doesn’t even have anymore.

There is something about these that is just perfect.  It rivals the chocolate chip cookie…and just might even be better.

You gotta try it!  You will find that you will keep going back to this recipe.

M&M COOKIES

  • ½ cup crisco
  • ½ cup margarine
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ¾ cup flour
  • 1 1 /2 cup m&m’s

-Cream together crisco and margarine. Add sugars until blended.  Add eggs and water. Add baking soda, salt and vanilla until mixed. Add flour and m&ms until just mixed.

-Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes or until just golden.

-I immediately add more m&m’s to the tops of the cookies right when they are done baking to make the tops look nice and the candies visible.

I’ve made these cookies with just m&m’s and I have also added chocolate chips to the mix.  Sometimes I make it on a pizza pan and spread it out for a cookie pizza.  Spread icing on the top and it’s a crowd pleaser.  I have also put the dough into greased mini-muffin tins. This is also a great little dessert for a crowd.
