How I Make My Morning Coffee at Home
I look forward to my morning coffee every single day.
I'm the kind of person who thinks about it the night before and can't wait for that first cup. And I get a little sad when it's noon and my coffee for the day is over. Does that mean I have a coffee problem?!
I don't know... but there's just something about the whole ritual that feels so calming to me.
I love my coffee hot (never iced), and if I have a disappointing cup, it sticks with me all day. I've definitely found myself sneaking out for a latte at a coffee shop just to end the morning on a better coffee note.
Okay, so it’s pretty apparent I have strong opinions about my coffee. Writing all of this out is making me realize I might sound coffee-obsessed... so please tell me I'm not alone.
Coffee is just one of those little routines that helps me start the day feeling like myself. And if I'm going to have coffee every single morning, I figure it might as well be really, really good.
Over the years, I've figured out exactly how I like to make my morning coffee at home. So today I'm sharing my favorite coffee beans, creamer, coffee maker, and one simple frothing trick that makes every cup feel a little more like a coffee shop latte.
The Automatic Chemex Coffee Maker we use
When the coffee maker we received as a wedding gift finally gave out after years, Chad and I decided it was time to upgrade.
We had always loved making coffee with a Chemex before we had kids and had more slow mornings together. The only downside? Standing there slowly pouring hot water over the grounds takes a little (well, a lot) of patience. When we discovered an automatic Chemex coffee maker, we were immediately intrigued.
Now, making coffee takes a few more steps than simply pressing a button on a traditional coffee maker, but we've gotten used to the routine - and honestly, I wouldn't go back.
It makes some of the best coffee I've ever had at home!
My Tips for better coffee at home
A few key things make a big difference:
Buy whole coffee beans and grind them fresh right before brewing.
Use filtered water!
Take the extra minute to froth your creamer. Trust me - it makes your coffee feel like something from your favorite coffee shop. We love this handheld frother.
What’s in my coffee Every Morning
We've been buying Peace Coffee for years. I love that it's organic and a B Corporation. And it consistently makes a great cup! You can get on their website or at Target.
This has become my favorite creamer. I always buy the unsweetened Whole30-approved version because it gives my coffee a creamy flavor without being overly sweet. There is no dairy, sugar, or artificial stuff.
Toasted Marshmallow, French Vanilla and Coffee Cake are my three favorite flavors, or just the original one!
One of my favorite inexpensive kitchen gadgets! It completely changes my coffee experience.
This is a crucial appliance for a frothy cup!!
My Favorite Frothy Coffee Trick
Here's the little trick I use every morning.
Brew the coffee.
Pour a small amount of hot coffee into your mug.
Add your Nutpods creamer.
Froth the coffee and creamer together with a handheld frother.
Fill the rest of the mug with hot coffee.
That's it.
It creates a creamy, latte-like coffee at home in less than a minute!
