Easy Homemade Fall Playdough
I have been making this easy homemade playdough recipe for over 3 years, so it deserves an updated post on my blog!! Dylan got this recipe from her preschool teacher 3 years ago, so I cannot take credit for it. But we love it so much I had to share with all of you!!!
This is a tried-and-true recipe for easy homemade playdough that you can whip up in no time.
First of all, I should preface this by saying that I am very surprised in myself to be the mom making playdough from scratch. For the past few years (basically since having 3 kids), I can barely get homemade food on the table, my kids hair combed, or with matching socks on… let alone have the energy and time to make playdough on the stove!!!!
But here I am …
I am sharing this recipe because I actually make it a lot in the fall, especially if I have cream of tartar on hand. It is that good! And my kids love when we make it.
Basically, I would not be sharing this recipe with you if it wasn’t REALLY easy. I was a little anxious about it the first time I made homemade playdough, but by the third time making it, it went better and faster each time.
To make: you whisk the dry ingredients together and add water. Then heat up on the stove. You stir as it comes together and add spices. It will basically form a soft ball! You then take off heat and add food coloring and mix it in with your hands, kind of like you are kneading the dough!
Call yourself a SUPER MOM (or DAD) if you make this! And if you don’t have the energy or time to make it and just go buy playdough, you are still a SUPER MOM (or DAD)!! Kids are meant to use their imagination and create things and who cares how you get the materials or what you use!
